Secrets to Success: Habits

Do you ever wonder how some people become so successful? Want to learn the secrets of success so you can live the life you dream of? Well luckily for you, success isn’t as big a secret as you might imagine.

One of the secrets to success is HABITS.

 

Why are habits so important when it comes to success. Well Brian Tracy said it perfectly when he said “Successful people are simply those who successful habits”. And the reason why? Habits are amazing because once they are formed it takes little effort for you to do that action, because it has become the norm. Think about it you get up every morning and brush your teeth with little effort, now imagine if you found it that easy to not eat sugar, go for a run or make 5 sales calls. Life would be a lot easier, right? And that is exactly what successful people do. They work out the things they need to do to be successful and then focus on making them a habit, so it is a part of their normal life.

 

There are 3 areas that are particularly useful on your journey to success:

 

1- A habit for your body

This could be a simple of jogging every morning, taking a yoga class every other day or drinking 2 litres of water. We only get one body and a successful person knows how important it is to look after their body so it can fully support them. Most successful people work hard and live busy lives. This requires strength and energy, so it is important that you are taking care of your body.

 

2- A habit for your mind

There is a statistic that says in America the average CEO reads 60 books, whilst an average worker reads 1. Now that is a massive difference! The mind, like the body, needs to be nurtured and developed. I am a big fan of reading books because has been a game-changer for me and I have seen the effect it has had on others. 3- A habit to move you forward professionally

Unlike the other two, this habit will vary depending on where you are in your life and what your profession is. What you will need to do is consider what actions are important in your line of work and look at turning one into a daily habit. An easy example is a salesperson so obviously they need to make sales everyday to be successful. They could decide that everyday before they have a coffee they will ring 5 people. This way they are ingraining into their body that sales calls are just a normal part of life.

 

SUMMARY

Habits are important because they take the effort out of activity. Actions are done on autopilot and by creating the right habits, you will be making it easier for yourself to be successful. When creating habits you should make sure you are addressing your body, your mind and your profession.
