Setting and Achieving Your Goals in 2017

SETTING AND ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS IN 2017

The New Year is on the horizon, which means most of the world will be thinking what they will set as a New Year’s Resolution. According to research, 25 percent of people abandon their New Year’s resolutions after one week.

That is a pretty scary statistic. Even more worrying is how many people set the same New Year’s Resolution year on year. And why do they have to keep re-setting them, because they never achieve them!

Are you ready to be apart of the successful group who actually achieve their goals?

Well here are my top tips

1.CREATE SMART GOALS

There are lots of different breakdowns as what SMART stands for

  • Specific, Significant, Stretching
  • Measurable, Meaningful, Motivational
  • Attainable, Action-based, Achievable
  • Relevant, Realistic, Results-Orientated
  • Time-based, Tangible, Trackable

The main thing is to give your goals depth. Ensure that you are writing down goals that have a level of detail. So instead of writing “I want to earn more money in 2017 ” you would write “I want to earn £100,000 by 31st December 2017″. In this example you have been more specific by stating the amount and giving a timeline.

Are your goals clear enough that someone else would know when you have achieved it? If that is so then you have probably made it SMART.

2. CONSIDER THE WHOLE OF YOUR LIFE

When choosing your goals it is important to consider your whole life. Is your goal in-line with all of the other elements in your life. When setting your goals make sure you consider the following: Health, Wealth, Family, Friends, Career, Work and Finances

3.WRITE THEM DOWN

Virtually every coach and motivational speaker will tell you the importance of writing your goals down. There is something about writing your goals down that helps cement them in your mind. If you really are dedicated to achieving your goal in 2017 I would recommend writing them everyday. I picked up this tip in Get Rich, Lucky B*tch by Denise Duffield-Thomas and it has been a life-changer for me. There is something about top of mind, which helps you to keep focus on the important.
