3 habits of highly successful people that you should form for yourself

habits of the highly successful - PropelHer

Do you want to have more success in your life? Trying to learn from the best but not sure where to start? In today’s post you will find out 3 top habits of highly successful people that you should copy and form for yourself.

At the moment, PropelHer’s Book of the Month is The Power of Habit and a line from the book really stuck with me

“Your brain can’t tell the difference between bad or good habits”.

The line stuck with me because it scared me. Essentially it was saying once a habit has been formed you will keep on performing it. Your brain can’t distinguish between what is good and bad all it is doing is following through a process that has been developed. That is why it is super important that you form good habits.

The truth is habits are great. When you do things automatically it makes life easier, but you need to ensure you are automatically doing good things, not bad things.

With that in mind today I am sharing 3 habits of highly successful people that you should learn from and develop for yourself

SUCESS HABIT 1 – READ

Lots of highly successful people swear by readings:

Warren Buffet reads between 600 and 1,000 pages per day,

Bill Gates reads around 50 books a year

And Oprah Winfrey believed so much in the power of reading that she created her even her own book club

If you have followed PropelHer for a while you will know reading is a success habit I absolutely belief in and that is why I run PropelHer’s Book Club. Making the decision to read and blog about a book every week changed my life. There is so much knowledge in books and it is amazing how many successful people have written books so although you may never be able to meet them there is no reason for not learning from them.

If you would like to develop a reading habit then join PropelHer’s Book Club. Designed specificially for ambititous women we read non-fiction books to support personal development and professional success. Each month I realise a new book so if you haven’t been reading at all it is a great way to get started. You can find out more and join here.

SUCCESS HABIT 2 – PRACTICE GRATITUDE

It is easy when you are ambitious and aiming high to not feel satisfied with where you currently are. However, successful people know you have to be thankful for where you are right now, whilst aiming higher. When you are adding gratitude into your daily habits you can start small. Start by saying “I am grateful for … “ and then finish the sentence however you see fit. To get you started you could be grateful for where you live, your friends and family, your health and the things you have in your life.

SUCCESS HABIT 3 – EXERCISE

You only get one body and in the same way successful people look after their mind by reading, they also look after their body by exercising. Exercising is essential for ensuring you are keeping your body as healthy and strong as possible. A healthy body will help you to perform everything else in your life to the best of your ability.

When it comes to exercise try and find something you enjoy, and something that will fit into your lifestyle. For example, I quite enjoy the gym, but I know that having to physically go to a gym will give me an excuse not to do it,, so my exercise regime is based on things I can do at home (yoga) or that starts at home (running). If you are someone that doesn’t like the routine of doing the same exercise then mix up it and remember this isn’t about you being able to run a marathon. You can start small and build up.

So that’s the three habits from highly successful people that you can copy and integrate into your own life. And you know the best way you practice all three of those habits? In the super habit – THE MORNING ROUTINE.

Have you ever heard of someone saying they have a morning routine? It is very common amongst successful people and stems from the idea you should start the day how you mean to go on. Creating and following a great morning routine means successful people are able to do important things first thing in the morning, which ensures they happen and also puts them in the best place for the rest of the day to be successful.

I absolutely swear by creating a morning routine, and even as a night owl, I have benefitted from practising a morning routine and because I believe in it so much I have created a FREE guide so you can create your own. I walk you through the steps to create a personalised morning routine and there is even a checklist to start you forming this new habit.

I would love to know the comments below what good habit you have that has been key in your success.
