In the world of personal development, there are a few topics that come up repeatedly and affirmations are one of them. Affirmations are statements that you use to help retrain your brain. You can write them down, say them out loud or even listen to a recording. The purpose is the statement is reinforcing the life you are want to create and the person you want to be.

Now you can find a list of affirmations and just practice them. In fact, I have created a free freebie for you at www.propelher.co.uk/affirmations to get you started, but it is always nice to create your own personalised one.

Here are the 3 P’s you should remember when it comes to affirmations and using them to create more success in your life.

P Number 1 – Present Tense

Affirmations should be in the present tense. Although an affirmation is something you desire in the future you are meant to practice them as if you already are experiencing it. Your affirmation would be “I am the CEO of a multi-million business” or “I am a Google employee” or “I have been chosen as Fortunes 40 under 40″.

P Number 2 – Be Positive

Your affirmations should always be in a positive form. For example, instead of saying “I am not an alcoholic” you would say “I am happy to live an alcohol-free life”.

P Number 3 – Practice Daily

Changing your subconscious mindset takes time. Lots of the stories that you tell yourself will have been formed years ago. So to override those messages you need to be consistently practising your new affirmations. A great way to practice your affirmations daily is to attach them to another activity you already do daily such as brushing your teeth.

There are a number of ways you can practice your affirmations, such as write them down, say them out loud and listen to them. Check out How to use affirmations to program your mind for success.

To recap when it comes to affirmations you want them to be in the present tense, they should be positive and you should practice them daily.

I would love for you to share one affirmation in the comments below that you are going to practice every day!
